ok dude here's a few pointers:
1. Avoid lined paper, it usually depreciates the look of the overall submission.
2. Use markers instead of pencils, it make your lines much more noticeable and defined. Also your colours will be 10x more vibrant.
3. Get a copy of photoshop or gimp and do a few things to your scans:
a. Change the image size, you simply are posting images way too huge for their detail. Post images at like 1200 pixels MAX in either direction. I aim for 800 - 1000 on my longest side depending.
b. Rotate the image! Nothing worse then it not being rotated. 9/10 people will overlook your deviant submission for this reason, i guarantee it.
c. If after using markers, your colours aren't vibrant enough, use photoshop to help reinforce your colours. You say now that you're having trouble with scanning colours, use photoshop to bring them back.
